Are you keeping yourself from being successful at your lawn care business?
Are you keeping yourself from making money?
First, I talk about LOW man hour rates. (They're killing your business - even if you don't "charge hourly.")
***Did you miss my lawn care business course to help you determine and implement your man hour rate???***
Worse yet, instead of determining their cost of doing business, self employed lawn care business owners just charge what their competitors charge... or less to try to get the job.
It's killing your lawn care business, I promise.
Then I talk about the importance of allocating the correct amount of time for your services and projects.
This can be tough when you're "estimating..." (but I tell you how we combat that in our estimates).
#3, something out of our control but that is definitely keeping you from making money in your lawn care business: WEATHER.
I talk big tips on how to work around weather and still drive a profitable man hour rate (and pulling the plug when you can't make anything in bad weather).
#4, and you know this... your labor.
This is your biggest variable. It depends on sick employees, slow employees, pissed off employees, etc....
So keep refining your hiring process and training process: ALWAYS. Allow it to always evolve, because business is always evolving.
The next point is big and a huge shout out to our mechanic. You'll relate, I'm sure!
#6: loading and unloading. HUGE time suck.
What works for you? How to you get that process to go smoothly and quickly?
We run 6-8+ crews every day, so it's definitely a work in progress always.
