Octatrack Internal Mixer (as opposed to external midi controller)
Published at : 02 Nov 2020
Before I go I wanted to show you something if I may...
Here's a rendition of my song 'ALL WE ARE' using the TR-09 as the master clock.
It's sending MIDI out to the Octatrack.
I'm using the Octatrack's internal mixer to mute and solo tracks instead of my usual little controller, and the audio from the Octatrack is going into the external input of the TR-09. It's nice and crunchy and actually sounds pretty good.
The bass is a 4 note sequence programmed into the Roland SH-01A. But the TR-09 is triggering it's clock with a 3 note sequence - so it changes and we get some variation. Modulation of the filter with the LFO also creates a little filter animation too.
The rhythm rise at the end is using the last step feature of the TR-09 (which is a bad ass little trick if you're brave enough to risk making a mistake.)
I just wanted to celebrate Elektron for updating the Octatrack OS today, and also express my pleasure at working with these beautiful little Roland replicants.
