Periodic fasting, weight loss and perhaps even wellness

Various versions of using a periodic fast for weight loss have been proposed. From a daily period of up to 20 hours that fast, and unlimited intake the remaining 4 hours, to 1 day per time period where you eat nothing (the Mormons fast 1 day a month), to what I suggest, a 2 day period once a week with greatly reduced calories, then 5 days of sensible eating.
