New South Wales health authorities are warning there will likely be more cases from the so-called Croydon cluster after six people from the same family group tested positive overnight.
Several members of the extended family group also live in other parts of Sydney, with one house located in the south-west.
NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant also flagged there were concerns about “inadvertent” community transmission in Wollongong, after a positive case visited several venues in the beachside city whilst infectious.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced restrictions would be tightened on Greater Sydney ahead of New Year’s Eve after the state recorded 18 new infections overnight.
